Greg Cole has been an avid fisherman and outdoor enthusiast since his boyhood. Greg’s love for fishing began as a young boy in the 1960s when he had the opportunity to fish the first salmon run in Frankfort, Michigan with his dad, brother and grandpa Sam.
Greg learned his fly fishing skills as a young boy by spending memorable days in the U.P. on the middle branch of the Escanaba River under his grandfather’s tutelage. His love for trout, salmon, perch, whitefish and bass fishing grew from spending his summers living on Crystal Lake in Benzie County and fishing the rivers and streams of upper northern Michigan since 1966.
Greg has fished and gained valuable knowledge from guides all over the country. His fishing excursions with his family have taken him to many great fishing destinations such as Martha’s Vineyard, Yellowstone Park, the Gallatin River, the Madison River, the Yellowstone River, the Provo River, and the Green River to name a few.
In 1995 Greg’s fishing and hunting area expanded to the Middle Branch of the Ontonagon River in the Upper Peninsula where he enjoys spending time at his camp located on the blue ribbon trout stream.
As a lifelong resident of Michigan, Greg has and continues to fish the lakes and rivers of Manistee County, Benzie County, Wexford County, Grand Traverse County, Ontonagon County, Gogebic County, Marquette County and Shiawassee County or wherever the fish happen to be biting!
Greg has recently had the dream of many avid fishermen become a reality. He has been able to take his passion for fishing and turn it into a profession with the establishment of his business, Michigan River Guides and Outfitters, LLC. In addition, Greg holds one of the tightly-regulated Huron-Manistee National Forest Outfitter Guide permits on the Big Manistee.
Greg invites clients to join him on one of his two boats or don their waders for an enjoyable day of fishing.
